Overview #23 - Fandom Ficlets

This was good times for me. I was actually surprised at how few operating fandoms I actually write in and so picked up a couple (Chicago Hope, Mortal Instruments, Firefly) in which I've never written at all. I started off with a major fandom of mine and ended with a major fandom, so it was good times for me. I made a bit of a game of it, using the prior fandom for the crossover in the next fandom (don't know if anyone caught that; sometimes it was hard to spot). I discovered that humor is difficult to convey in only ten words, especially if I'm not as familiar with the fandom I'd like. Also, humor often demands context. Also my sense of fluff and romance were a bit broken, as well. I did my best. It was a good exercise to see what I can write in and what genres fail me. I tried not to be too obvious where the AUs were concerned. Oftentimes it was easiest to just do a flip of profession - Danny was a patient instead of a surgeon, Hotch was a victim instead of a profiler (unsub would have been too easy), Jayce as a mundane instead of a hunter. Other times it was switching teams - Duo in OZ, Farf in Weiss, Simon working for the Alliance. I was particularly proud of my AU choice with Severus, as everyone else is usually itching to put him in Gryffindor in a House Switch. I do maintain that his best alternate house was probably Ravenclaw, although Hufflepuff!Snape would have been quite the sight. Fandom isn't always as easy as I like to think, and this was a good stretch.

Severus Dissevered

Overview #22 - Journeys

Yes, this week was an incomplete for me as well. In my defense, General Conference occurred, and it's essentially an all-day event, so I got a little sidetracked. It was fun to write a journey. I've noticed that in my most of my novels no physical journeys occur, so it was fun to take a literal journey rather than a metaphorical one. Some journeys were metaphorical, but getting the mere chance to explore that was very good times indeed. I enjoyed dabbling in a little Sandman, as well as working on some kinks for some other novels that may or may not be going down. I love to travel, and I find it odd that I never write about traveling, so this was fun.

Overview # 22 - Travels

I had fun this week. It was fun to describe various places that I hope to see and things that I imagine that I will be able to see when I am there. I was interested to see the various ways that a journey was described. I had not thought about some of the journeys that were described this week. Like the post on the doctor looking his hand that Nagi posted.

I didn't post every day, but It was not as scanty as last week. I look forward for this next weeks challenge.
