Writing Jar
It was clear with an appliquéd pattern, yellow daisies and bright flowers and an assortment of Easter cheer. Someone had stuffed it full of writing tools - sparkly pens, swirly pens, old-fashioned pencils made operable with a sharpener, cheap ball-point pens, and some worn-out highlighters from someone’s ardent studying. It was perched precariously close to the edge of the table, ready to topple with a single mis-pulled pen. Some of the pencils poked high above the pens, unsharpened and taller for it. Someone had shoved a receipt down the side of the jar as well, and the barcode was distorted beneath the pattern of the leaves. The jar would either fall - or someone responsible would push it back.
