Take your characters through a change of seasons. It could be that Bob has always loved winter because he can cuddle with Carolyn more, or Scott likes summer because he can go about without a shirt on. You can use this to represent a change in the character themselves, the changing of one season to the next. It could be simply an observed process, or maybe one of your characters has spring allergies.
