My Cup Runneth Over

Beads of salt water,
dripping off my face,
on to my pillow.

I believed once that I
could not cry.
That I had trained myself to
hold
back
the sadness.

Now the tears come,
and they will not stop.
I have years to make up for.

Have I mentioned that you break my heart? You break my heart. The structure of the last three lines in the second stanza was...perfect. As if each line were a teardrop itself. (Oh, you bring my inner English major back to life.) I love the structure and the solid, poignant pin-prick in the last line - straight through the heart. A solid mix of the abstract and concrete.
